Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Review and summarize professional medical records, which include provider notes, encounters, and supporting documents.

• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and relevant modifiers in accordance with national and payer-specific coding guidelines.

• Ensure that codes are substantiated by provider documentation and reach out to providers for clarification when required.

• Maintain coding quality metrics, focusing on accuracy, productivity, and compliance.

• Engage in both internal and external coding audits, offering feedback to enhance documentation and coding practices.

• Keep abreast of updates related to CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and CMS risk adjustment guidelines.

• Uphold confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.

• Contribute to Sprinter Health’s mission of delivering preventive and chronic care directly to patients’ homes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active AAPC certification (e.g., CPC, COC) or AHIMA certification (CCS-P, CCS) is required.

• At least 3 years of experience in professional fee (Pro-Fee) coding.

• Strong grasp of HCC / risk adjustment coding principles.

• Exceptional knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease progression, and pharmacology.

• Extensive experience with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifier assignment.

• Capability to work autonomously and sustain productivity in a remote environment.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

• Proficiency in EHR systems, encoder/coding software, and Google tools.

• Reliable internet access and a dedicated, secure workspace are essential.

• Familiarity with Elation EMR and Google Suite (docs, slides, sheets) is preferred.
