Outpatient Complex Coder – Surgical

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Evaluate, interpret, and encode diagnostic and procedural data from patient medical records for billing and reimbursement objectives.

• Extract and organize precise patient information to aid in medical research, assessment of patient care, and administrative decision-making.

• Ensure adherence to coding standards, third-party reimbursement protocols, regulations, and accreditation requirements.

• Enhance database accuracy and maximize reimbursement through meticulous coding methods.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

• Additional specialty coding certification or a minimum of five (5) years of coding experience.

• At least two (2) years of coding experience.

• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).

• Comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.

• Preferred: One to two (1-2) years of college education or further coursework in Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or Medical Record Sciences.

• Preferred: Experience in specialty coding.
