Outpatient Complex Coder – Acute Care Multispecialty/Physician Services, E/M

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and interpret diagnostic and procedural data from patient medical records in accordance with established coding standards.

• Accurately code intricate outpatient cases to facilitate proper reimbursement and billing practices.

• Extract and organize patient information for medical research initiatives, care assessments, and administrative decision-making.

• Uphold strict compliance with coding regulations, third-party reimbursement policies, and legal requirements.

• Ensure adherence to accreditation standards and quality metrics.

• Support provider-patient continuity through dependable and precise data management.

• Enhance reimbursement results while ensuring coding precision and integrity.

⛳️ Requirements

• A High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is mandatory.

• A specialized coding certification is required or a minimum of five (5) years of coding experience.

• At least two (2) years of coding experience is essential.

• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required.

• Comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.

• Experience in specialty coding is preferred.

• One to two (1-2) years of college education or additional coursework in Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or Medical Record Sciences is preferred.
