OrioleDB Deployment Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Package software into the supabase/postgres repository utilizing Nix with flakes.

• Assist in transitioning packaging processes from conventional methods to Nix packaging.

• Oversee the release lifecycles of OrioleDB, including major, minor, and extension updates.

• Enhance platform release systems to promote greater developer self-service.

• Streamline CI/CD, GitHub Actions, team tools, and testing/release methodologies.

• Detect and resolve production issues within customer deployments.

• Uphold best practices and testing protocols to bolster stability and minimize deployment risks.

• Co-manage the integration of OrioleDB into the Supabase product.

• Collaborate with the OrioleDB team on technical decisions and internal processes.

• Provide mentorship to the engineering team regarding the use and contribution to Nix-based work.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience with PostgreSQL and its ecosystem, including extensions and performance enhancements.

• Demonstrated expertise in infrastructure management, tooling, and optimization.

• Proficient in Nix package management, including the use of flakes.

• Familiarity with Ansible, Packer, Docker, QEMU/KVM, AWS, and Kubernetes.

• Experience in building applications for Linux and Darwin/macOS aarch64 targets.

• Comfortable working with C/C++, Go, JavaScript, and Rust-based projects.

• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, particularly customers.

• Background in asynchronous or globally distributed teams.

• Independent and proactive in problem-solving.

• Eagerness to mentor engineers on Nix-related tasks.

• Experience in integrating new features into widely used managed hosted product platforms.
