
Operations and Maintenance Technician – Azure Landing Zone, Azure Virtual Desktop

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Assist in the continuous operation and upkeep of Azure Landing Zone components, which encompass management groups, subscriptions, policies, role-based access controls, and networking frameworks.
• Oversee platform health, configuration adherence, and resource performance throughout Azure environments.
• Aid in the administration of essential Azure infrastructure services, including virtual networks, network security groups, route tables, storage accounts, key vaults, backup solutions, monitoring, and resource locks.
• Execute routine operational tasks such as validation checks, configuration modifications, patch coordination, log analysis, and issue resolution.
• Facilitate the enforcement of governance and security measures through Azure Policy, tagging standards, and operational guardrails.
• Support incident response efforts, root cause analysis, and problem-solving for issues related to the Azure platform.
• Keep operational documentation, runbooks, asset inventories, and support procedures updated for Azure infrastructure services.
• Deliver daily support for Azure Virtual Desktop host pools, session hosts, application groups, workspaces, FSLogix profiles, and user access configurations.
• Monitor AVD service health, user session performance, host availability, and capacity utilization metrics.
• Resolve user connectivity issues, session reliability challenges, login delays, profile container problems, and application delivery issues.
• Assist in session host provisioning, image updates, scaling support, and maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with identity, networking, storage, and endpoint management teams for effective AVD service delivery.
• Contribute to maintaining secure and stable end-user virtual desktop environments in line with organizational standards.
• Participate in the testing and validation of AVD changes, updates, and operational enhancements before production implementation.
• Address incidents, service requests, and operational alerts within established service levels.
• 3–6 years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud operations, or end-user computing support.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate and Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty.
• Practical experience in supporting Microsoft Azure infrastructure within an operational setting.
• Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop or other enterprise virtual desktop technologies.
• Knowledge of Azure core services, including virtual machines, networking, storage, monitoring, identity integration, and backup/recovery.
• Familiarity with Azure governance principles, such as subscriptions, RBAC, policies, and resource organization.
• Experience utilizing monitoring and troubleshooting tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and service health dashboards.
• Understanding of incident, problem, and change management processes in a corporate IT environment.
• Capability to adhere to operational runbooks and standard operating procedures while exercising sound technical judgment.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
