Open-Source Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Contribute to enhancing the open-source machine learning ecosystem.

• Primarily focus on established open-source libraries such as Transformers, Datasets, Pytorch, and vLLM.

• Engage with users and contributors throughout the extensive open-source ML community.

• Play a key role in nurturing one of the most vibrant machine learning communities, assisting users in contributing to and utilizing the tools developed.

• Collaborate daily with researchers, ML practitioners, and data scientists via GitHub, forums, and Slack.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Python, with a background in crafting clean, well-tested, and maintainable library code.

• Extensive hands-on experience with a contemporary deep-learning framework, particularly PyTorch (experience with JAX or TensorFlow is a plus).

• Practical knowledge of the Hugging Face open-source stack (Transformers, Datasets, Accelerate) or similar ML libraries.

• A publicly accessible track record of open-source contributions, such as merged pull requests to ML or data libraries, that can be evaluated on GitHub.

• Strong grasp of modern machine learning and deep learning principles, including transformer architectures.

• Experience working collaboratively with a technical community in an open environment (GitHub issues and reviews, forums, Slack, or Discord).

• Excellent written English skills for effective asynchronous collaboration across a distributed global community.
