Ontology Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +12 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide consultancy to clients regarding ontology strategy and lead teams in defining, executing, and managing ontology design to fulfill client objectives and requirements.

• Assist stakeholders in comprehending business needs and convert them into ontology and semantic solutions.

• Create and sustain ontologies, applying best practices in semantic and data management.

• Evaluate existing ontologies and offer recommendations for enhancement and alignment with industry standards.

• Deliver training and support to clients while preparing documentation on the benefits, usage, and upkeep of ontologies.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of ontology solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 2 years of experience in the development and management of ontologies within business settings, demonstrating a strong grasp of ontology applications, design, management principles, and best practices.

• Proven experience in overseeing the complete ontology development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, and governance.

• Proficient in semantic standards such as RDF, OWL, SHACL, and SPARQL.

• Practical experience with ontology tools and management systems like Protégé.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitative skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Science, Knowledge Management, Library Science, Management of Information Systems, Philosophy (with a focus on Formal Ontology or Epistemology), Linguistics, or a related field.
