Online BMET Instructor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Instruct designated online BMET courses in accordance with established syllabi, course objectives, and institutional guidelines.

• Facilitate asynchronous learning through recorded materials, readings, discussions, practical assignments, projects, assessments, and virtual student support.

• Utilize the College's learning management system and Microsoft communication tools to upload materials, manage the gradebook, track attendance and engagement, and interact with students.

• Address student inquiries within 24 hours, excluding weekends, and provide prompt, constructive feedback.

• Apply current BMET scenarios that involve safety, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, service documentation, equipment lifecycle management, software, networking, and associated healthcare technology practices.

• Observe student participation and performance, identify at-risk students, carry out outreach, document early alerts, and execute student-success action plans.

• Keep scheduled virtual office hours and offer one-on-one support as necessary.

• Engage in faculty orientation, training for the learning management system, meetings, professional development, course reviews, and accreditation processes.

• Maintain necessary faculty records and adhere to institutional, governmental, and accreditation requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biomedical equipment technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology, electronics, electrical/electronic engineering technology, engineering technology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

• At least four years of relevant practical experience in the assigned BMET subject area(s).

• Proven knowledge of biomedical equipment service, maintenance, safety, troubleshooting, documentation, or healthcare technology management.

• Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in computer usage.

• Capability to teach and support students in an online format.

• Ability to provide official transcripts and documentation of pertinent employment, certifications, licenses, and professional development.

• Remote work necessitates reliable internet access and suitable computer equipment.

• Ability to uphold student confidentiality.

• Completion of a minimum of eight hours of continuing education each year in the faculty member’s area of expertise or as assigned by the College.

• Consistent and dependable participation in assigned course activities, student communications, and mandatory meetings.

• A Master’s degree is preferred.

• Preferred: an associate degree or higher specifically in BMET, biomedical technology, electronics, EET, or a related technical field, alongside considerable BMET experience.

• Preferred: CBET, CABT, CompTIA A+, Network+, manufacturer training, or other relevant professional certifications.

• Preferred: experience in training, mentoring, supervising, or teaching technicians or adult learners.

• Preferred: experience in postsecondary or online teaching and familiarity with asynchronous learning.

• Preferred: background in DICOM, medical-device connectivity, healthcare technology software, cybersecurity, imaging systems, preventive maintenance, or equipment lifecycle management.
