Online Adjunct Professor – Human & Social Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Facilitate an engaging virtual learning environment for students in Human & Social Services.

• Prepare assigned courses in Blackboard by specified deadlines.

• Deliver approximately 12–14 hours of instruction weekly over five days for each course.

• Lead discussions with meaningful contributions, higher-order questions, and additional resources.

• Respond to inquiries from students, supervisors, and colleagues within 48 hours.

• Address all initial discussion posts from students within the designated weekly timeframe.

• Evaluate student submissions using rubrics and provide comprehensive, personalized feedback.

• Maintain the grade book, updating or reverting zeros as per deadlines.

• Adhere to final grade submission deadlines for each course.

• Conduct outreach for student retention and document all outreach efforts.

• Implement active learning strategies, authentic assessments, adhere to APA guidelines, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and online teaching best practices.

• Ensure compliance with ADA accommodations and plagiarism policies.

• Promote the use of electronic portfolios and encourage student participation in course evaluations.

• Attend faculty meetings, workshops, seminars, and professional development events.

• Engage in campus-wide initiatives for retention and graduation persistence.

• Keep up-to-date with discipline-specific and distance education knowledge.

• Act as a brand ambassador for Bryant & Stratton College.

• Collaborate with full-time faculty to enhance classroom performance and course content.

• Assist with course development, curriculum updates, committee work, mentoring, and college initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree in Social Work or Human Services.

• PhD degree preferred.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in online teaching.

• At least three years of experience in higher education within the last decade.

• Expertise in the relevant subject areas.

• Instructional experience in educational theory.

• Proven leadership skills, integrity, and ethical conduct.

• Strong problem-solving abilities, conflict management/resolution skills, adaptability, creativity, and sensitivity to diversity.

• Openness to self-assessment, feedback, and integrating insights into practice.

• Capability to identify and proactively address opportunities and challenges.

• Documented management experience in an educational context.

• Established administrative, evaluative, analytical, strategic thinking, and organizational abilities.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications.

• Familiarity with technologies currently utilized in the Nursing profession.

• Ability to operate within college, state, federal, and accreditation/approval agency regulations, policies, and procedures.

• Competence in using necessary technology for online courses.

• Capability to submit resume/CV, transcripts, professional references, cover letter, teaching philosophy, copies of licenses, and signed job description.
