Online Adjunct Professor – Human & Social Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Lead an engaging virtual learning environment for Human & Social Services courses.

• Set up assigned courses in Blackboard with all necessary components by the specified deadline.

• Provide around 12–14 hours of instruction weekly across five days for each course.

• Facilitate discussions with meaningful contributions, thought-provoking questions, and additional resources.

• Respond to inquiries from students, supervisors, and colleagues within a 48-hour timeframe.

• Address all initial discussion posts from students within the established weekly schedule.

• Evaluate student assignments using rubrics and offer thorough, personalized feedback.

• Manage the grade book by entering or reverting zeroes in accordance with weekly deadlines.

• Assess late submissions during the subsequent grading cycle.

• Adhere to final grade submission deadlines.

• Engage in retention outreach, monitor students at risk, communicate with both students and advisors, and document interactions.

• Implement active learning techniques, authentic assessments, APA standards, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and the Seven Principles for Good Practice.

• Ensure compliance with ADA accommodations and plagiarism regulations.

• Promote the use of electronic portfolios and encourage participation in student surveys and faculty evaluations.

• Attend mandatory live and asynchronous faculty meetings.

• Stay updated on current practices in the discipline and distance education through professional growth opportunities.

• Engage in campus-wide retention and persistence initiatives.

• Complete all required workshops and seminars.

• Adhere to college policies and guidelines.

• Act as a brand ambassador for Bryant & Stratton College.

• Collaborate with full-time faculty to enhance classroom effectiveness and curriculum development.

• Submit course support requests for issues, updates, or suggestions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work or Human Services is required.

• A PhD is preferred.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in online teaching.

• Three years of experience in higher education within the past ten years.

• Expertise in the relevant subject matter.

• Familiarity with educational theory.

• Proven leadership qualities, integrity, ethical standards, problem-solving abilities, conflict management/resolution skills, adaptability, creativity, and a sensitivity to diversity.

• Openness to self-evaluation, receiving feedback, and integrating results into practice.

• Capability to identify and proactively tackle opportunities and challenges.

• Documented management experience in an educational context.

• Strong administrative, evaluative, analytical, strategic thinking, and organizational skills.

• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications.

• Familiarity with technologies utilized in the Nursing field.

• Ability to operate within the regulations, policies, and procedures set forth by the college, state, federal, and accrediting agencies.

• Proficient in using technology necessary for facilitating online courses.

• Capability to remain stationary or lift, carry, push, or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally.

• Ability to receive and accurately convey detailed instructions or ideas.
