Oncology Field Medical Director, Thoracic

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement the Medical strategy and engagement plan for designated clients in the New England region.

• Stay informed about relevant therapeutic areas, disease states, and Pfizer products.

• Supply therapeutic area and product insights to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Act as a channel for Medical Information and insights from customers.

• Create and carry out coordinated Field Medical strategies.

• Collaborate and communicate with Medical colleagues at headquarters, Medical Information teams, and Field Medical personnel.

• Present sanctioned medical and scientific education through various formats including live, virtual, written, and telephone communications.

• Share approved medical content regarding Pfizer products and pertinent therapeutic subjects.

• Identify and engage key customer segments.

• Address unsolicited medical inquiries from healthcare professionals while adhering to Pfizer guidelines.

• Facilitate advisory boards, collaborating with vendors when needed.

• Handle incoming queries from healthcare professionals through the established triage system.

• Identify potential sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials, particularly those serving underrepresented patient populations.

• Provide Medical support throughout the Investigator Sponsored Research process.

• Enhance oncology research and expertise in the therapeutic area.

• Offer leadership for assets.

• Explain study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation concepts to clients.

• Lead strategic planning for the territory, focusing on prioritization and accountability for medical outcomes.

• Engage with local Patient Advocacy Groups in partnership with Corporate Affairs and HQ Medical Affairs.

• Deliver actionable insights from the field regarding patient organizations, needs, treatment patterns, standards of care, and unmet data requirements.

• Participate in Medical, therapeutic area, and asset cross-functional committees.

• Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs at clinical and professional associations and societies.

• Mentor onboarding partners, advisory board leads, and study leaders.

• Contribute to special projects as necessary.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in a health science is required.

• Relevant experience is necessary: PharmD/PhD with 6 years of experience, MBA/MSc with 8 years of experience, or BA/BSc with 10 years of experience.

• Recognized subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholders.

• Diverse leadership experiences and capabilities.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict constructively.

• Capability to handle a significant volume of projects in a remote setting, prioritize effectively, and make sound judgments.

• Ability to work within a matrixed, multidisciplinary team.

• Proficiency in leading change and demonstrating agility in adapting to change.

• Strong problem-solving and networking skills across the enterprise.

• Clinical and technical competencies.

• Ability to quickly adopt and utilize new digital technology and document medical interactions.

• Must be able to operate a Pfizer company vehicle.

• Willingness to travel frequently by air.

• Flexibility for travel 60-80% of the time.

• Must reside near an airline hub city.

• Availability to work on weekends.

• Current residency in MA, ME, VT, NH, or CT is required.

• Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.

• Permanent work authorization in the United States is mandatory.

• PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree is highly preferred.

• Previous experience in Field Medical is advantageous.

• Familiarity with internal and external SOPs, rules, and regulations is preferred.
