Oncology Field Medical Director, Thoracic

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Strategize and implement the Medical approach and engagement for designated clients within the California/Nevada/Hawaii region.

• Keep abreast of pertinent therapeutic areas, disease states, and Pfizer pharmaceuticals.

• Offer therapeutic area and product insights to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Act as a channel for Medical Information and customer feedback.

• Provide approved medical and scientific education to healthcare professionals.

• Identify and connect with key customer segments.

• Supply scientifically backed information in response to unsolicited medical inquiries from HCPs.

• Facilitate advisory boards under managerial supervision and collaborate with vendors as required.

• Address inbound HCP inquiries through established triage procedures.

• Collaborate with Oncology Research & Development and Global Product Development to pinpoint potential clinical trial sites, particularly those serving under-represented patient groups.

• Offer Medical support throughout the Investigator Sponsored Research process.

• Develop expertise in research and therapeutic areas, including the latest congress data and disease-state literature.

• Provide leadership for medical assets.

• Communicate concepts related to study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation to customers.

• Guide the territory through strategic planning, prioritization, and ensuring medical impact accountability.

• Engage with local Patient Advocacy Groups in conjunction with Corporate Affairs and HQ Medical Affairs.

• Deliver practical field insights on patient organizations, patient requirements, treatment trends, standards of care, and unmet data necessities.

• Participate in Medical, therapeutic-area, and asset cross-functional committees.

• Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs within clinical/professional associations and societies.

• Mentor new partners, advisory board leads, and study leaders.

• Engage in special projects as required.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in a health science is mandatory.

• Relevant experience is necessary: PharmD/PhD with 6 years of experience, MBA/MSc with 8 years of experience, or BA/BSc with 10 years of experience.

• Recognized subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholders.

• A diverse range of leadership experiences and capabilities.

• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.

• Strong interpersonal skills with an aptitude for managing conflict effectively.

• Capability to handle a substantial volume of projects in a remote setting, prioritize effectively, implement successfully, and demonstrate sound judgment.

• Ability to work within a matrixed, multi-disciplinary team environment.

• Skills to manage and lead change in a shifting external healthcare landscape.

• Agility in adapting to organizational changes.

• Proficient problem-solving and enterprise-wide networking abilities.

• Strong collaboration, leadership, and teamwork skills.

• Self-motivated, accountable, with a sense of urgency and capability to deliver medical impact.

• Clinical and technical expertise.

• Ability to quickly adopt and utilize new digital technologies and document medical interactions.

• Capability to operate a Pfizer company vehicle and frequently travel by air.

• Willingness to travel 60-80% of the time.

• Must reside in reasonable proximity to an airline 'hub' city.

• Availability to work on weekends.

• Currently living in California or Nevada.

• Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. by any employer.

• Permanent work authorization in the United States is required.

• U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
