Oncology Field Medical Director – Thoracic

📋 Description

• Develop and implement the Medical strategy and engagement for designated customers within the territory.

• Stay informed about relevant therapeutic areas, disease states, and Pfizer products.

• Supply therapeutic area and product information to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Act as a resource for Medical Information and provide customer insights.

• Assist in the development of the Medical content strategy and execute Field Medical tactics accordingly.

• Collaborate with Medical colleagues at headquarters, Medical Information, and Field Medical teams.

• Provide approved medical and scientific education via live, virtual, written, and telephone channels.

• Integrate health literacy, cultural sensitivity, and patient-centricity into all communications and deliverables.

• Identify and engage with priority customer segments.

• Address unsolicited medical inquiries from healthcare professionals while adhering to Pfizer policies.

• Lead advisory boards and collaborate with vendors as necessary.

• Manage inbound queries from healthcare professionals using the established triage process.

• Identify potential sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials, particularly those serving under-represented patient populations.

• Offer Medical support throughout the Investigator Sponsored Research process.

• Enhance therapeutic area expertise through congress data and literature related to disease states.

• Provide leadership for assets.

• Clarify study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation to customers.

• Guide the territory through strategic planning, prioritization, and accountability for medical impact.

• Engage with local Patient Advocacy Groups in conjunction with Corporate Affairs and HQ Medical Affairs.

• Deliver actionable insights from the field regarding patient organizations, patient needs, treatment patterns, standards of care, and unmet data requirements.

• Participate in Medical, therapeutic-area, and asset cross-functional committees.

• Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs within clinical and professional associations and societies.

• Mentor new partners, advisory board leads, and study leads.

• Engage in special projects as needed.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a health science is required.

• PharmD, PhD, or an equivalent terminal doctoral degree is highly preferred.

• PharmD/PhD with 6 years of experience, MBA/MSc with 8 years of experience, or BA/BSc with 10 years of experience is required.

• Recognized subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholders.

• Diverse leadership experiences and capabilities are essential.

• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflicts constructively.

• Capacity to prioritize and implement projects while exercising sound judgment in a continuous improvement environment.

• Ability to work effectively within a matrixed, multi-disciplinary team.

• Capability to lead change and demonstrate agility in response to change.

• Strong problem-solving skills and enterprise-wide networking abilities.

• Clinical and technical proficiency.

• Ability to quickly adopt and utilize new digital technologies and document medical interactions.

• Must be capable of operating a Pfizer company car and frequently traveling by air.

• Willingness to travel 60-80% of the time.

• Should reside in reasonable proximity to an airline hub city.

• Availability to work on weekends.

• Must currently live in California or Nevada.

• Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.

• Permanent work authorization in the United States is required.

• U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

• Familiarity with internal and external SOPs, rules, and regulations related to Pfizer/customer interactions is preferred.

• Previous Field Medical experience is preferred.
