On Call Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Provide maintenance, diagnostic, and repair services for freight wagons throughout the UK rail network.

• Address urgent call-outs for wagon malfunctions, derailments, and braking issues at any time from Monday to Sunday.

• Execute scheduled maintenance, component replacements, and safety inspections.

• Collaborate with terminal personnel and train operators to reduce disruptions.

• Prepare tools, parts, and documentation prior to attending the site.

• Offer technical support for internal needs during on-call periods.

• Carry out dynamic risk assessments and adhere to safe working practices.

• Ensure compliance with PPE and site-specific safety regulations.

• Report safety issues and engage in incident investigations.

• Complete maintenance logs, fault reports, and inspection records.

• Assist in continuous improvement efforts and analyze defect trends.

• Track time, parts, and consumables for cost management.

• Maintain readiness of vehicles and equipment.

• Aid in project execution, commissioning, and modification programs.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute during team briefings.

• Represent the company in a professional manner and take part in training sessions.

⛳️ Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or HNC/HND level, NVQ Level 4, or Foundation degree.

• Experience in the maintenance of freight wagons.

• Proficient fault-finding and repair abilities.

• Capability to work independently.

• Strong communication and IT skills.

• Valid UK driving licence.

• Willingness to work unsociable hours and travel as required.

• PTS or equivalent site access certification.
