Nurse Advice Line, Nights, One Weekend Shift Per Week

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Conducts telephone triage within challenging, high-pressure, and repetitive environments.

• Gathers information and performs evaluations, formulates preliminary diagnoses, and identifies interventions and outcomes in line with established protocols.

• Assists callers in assessing both normal and abnormal symptoms, evaluating treatment effectiveness, and determining when to follow up.

• Records symptoms, complaints, nursing evaluations, guidance provided, and responses from patients/callers.

• Adheres to policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance healthcare outcomes and ensure access to suitable care.

• Conducts initial assessments for patients across neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups.

• Distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings while recognizing potential issues.

• Educates patients/callers by providing care recommendations and confirming their understanding.

• Evaluates signs of abuse and refers cases as necessary.

• Reviews medications, dosages, allergies, medical history, and immunization records.

• Chooses appropriate clinical guidelines and advises on dispositions.

• Engages in quality improvement, documentation, and audio evaluations.

• Modifies dispositions based on individual patient/caller requirements using nursing judgment.

• Collects data to identify process enhancements and operational improvements.

• Incorporates findings from quality assurance audits and new insights into practice.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate's Degree is mandatory.

• A minimum of 2-3 years of recent nursing experience is required.

• Experience in advice lines, Emergency Departments, Urgent Care, and/or Triage is preferred.

• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.

• A Registered Nurse (RN) license through DORA (Department of Regulatory Agencies) is necessary.

• Must provide age-appropriate triage and treatment recommendations for callers from newborns to adults, including OB and Worker's Compensation Injury Reporting.

• Proficient in utilizing computer software and associated programs to triage and send reports to relevant agencies or clinics.

• Applies nursing judgment in conjunction with computer software programs to determine appropriate dispositions and care recommendations.

• Capable of responding effectively to emergency situations.

• Demonstrates the ability to apply nursing principles, practices, and techniques.

• Exercises initiative and judgment in choosing the correct treatment.

• Competent in using computers and various computer systems.

• Strong computer skills are required.

• Bilingual skills are preferred.
