Nurse Advice Line, Nights, One Weekend Shift

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Conduct telephone triage in high-pressure, repetitive situations.

• Gather patient information and make evaluations.

• Formulate preliminary diagnoses and decide on interventions and dispositions according to established guidelines.

• Guide patients/callers in assessing normal and abnormal symptoms, the effectiveness of treatments, and when to follow up.

• Record symptoms, complaints, nursing evaluations, advice given, and responses from patients/callers.

• Adhere to policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance healthcare outcomes and accessibility.

• Carry out initial assessments for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

• Review care recommendations for age suitability and distinguish between normal and abnormal findings.

• Recognize educational needs and inform patients/callers through care guidance and teach-back methods.

• Evaluate for signs of abuse and make necessary referrals.

• Examine medications, dosages, allergies, health history, and vaccination records.

• Analyze assessment information and apply suitable guidelines.

• Conduct quality improvement initiatives, documentation, and audio audits.

• Recommend suitable dispositions and adjust them using nursing judgment.

• Incorporate quality improvement and audit insights into daily practice.

• Identify opportunities for process and operational enhancements and gather relevant data.

• Recognize educational needs and integrate new knowledge into practice.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate's Degree is mandatory.

• 2-3 years of recent nursing experience are required.

• Experience in advice lines, Emergency Departments, Urgent Care, and/or Triage is preferred.

• BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.

• RN-Registered Nurse license from DORA (Department of Regulatory Agencies) is necessary.

• Must provide age-appropriate triage and treatment dispositions for all callers, from newborns to adults, including OB and Worker's Compensation Injury Reporting.

• Proficient in utilizing computer software and related programs to triage and forward reports to relevant agencies or clinics.

• Employ nursing judgment with computer software to determine appropriate dispositions and care advice.

• Capable of responding effectively to emergency situations.

• Ability to apply nursing principles, practices, and techniques.

• Must demonstrate initiative and judgment in determining suitable treatments.

• Competent in using computers and computer systems.

• Computer skills are essential.

• Bilingual skills are preferred.
