Network Support Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Create new functionalities and enhance existing code for VyOS.

• Work alongside developers to assess and validate code modifications, test feature implementations, and offer constructive feedback.

• Produce technical documentation, including solution briefs, datasheets, and visual materials.

• Design, implement, and configure network infrastructures utilizing VyOS and other networking hardware.

• Develop and deploy Proof of Concept (PoC) scenarios, documenting configurations, performance metrics, and solution effectiveness.

• Identify and resolve issues related to network performance, security, and connectivity.

• Investigate escalated technical challenges, perform root cause analysis, and provide reproducible solutions or technical reports.

• Execute functional, performance, and regression testing for VyOS features and enhancements.

• Create and maintain automated testing frameworks.

• Introduce sophisticated testing tools and frameworks to enhance validation processes.

• Conduct interoperability tests with third-party systems.

• Sustain a centralized knowledge repository with technical articles and solution documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• In-depth understanding of networking protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VPNs, and firewalls.

• Practical experience with VyOS or other open-source networking platforms.

• Proficiency in Python or Bash for automation and testing purposes.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in intricate network environments.

• Background in network performance optimization and security best practices.

• Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) and cloud networking concepts.

• Capability to create and execute test cases for network functionality and performance.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for technical documentation and teamwork.

• Strong analytical skills to interpret packet captures, system logs, and debugging outputs.

• At least 5 years of experience in networking, system administration, or network security.

• Experience with VyOS, open-source network operating systems, or enterprise-level networking solutions.

• Prior experience in feature validation, troubleshooting, and debugging network-related challenges.

• Hands-on experience with VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, and cloud networking (AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Experience in conducting Proof of Concept (PoC) demonstrations and documenting technical insights.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks for networking products.
