Network Security Appliance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Configure, deploy, maintain, and optimize high-performance firewalls, IPS/IDS, VPN concentrators, and load balancers for enterprise environments.

• Ensure the performance, availability, and health of appliances across various sites and cloud infrastructures.

• Develop, implement, audit, and review policies and rulesets for firewalls and IPS/IDS.

• Monitor logs and alerts, respond to security incidents, and identify potential threats.

• Design and maintain application load balancing to ensure high availability, effective traffic distribution, and performance optimization.

• Configure and provide support for site-to-site and remote access VPNs.

• Monitor device health, performance, and threats; investigate incidents and perform root cause analysis.

• Deploy and manage cloud security appliances, WAFs, and VPNs in AWS and Azure environments.

• Develop and maintain automation, backup, and reporting scripts using Python, Bash, and PowerShell.

• Maintain documentation for appliance configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and change logs.

• Ensure adherence to ISO, PCI, GDPR, and internal security standards.

• Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, and ServiceDesk teams on network security initiatives.

• Provide escalation support and facilitate knowledge transfer to IT personnel.

• Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans.

• Recommend and implement best practices, technologies, and process enhancements for security.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience managing network security appliances, firewalls, and load balancers within enterprise or cloud settings.

• Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper, and Check Point firewalls.

• Expertise with F5 and Citrix ADC load balancers.

• Strong understanding of IPS/IDS systems and their integration with network architecture.

• Experience in AWS and Azure cloud security, including the use of cloud-native security appliances.

• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and VLANs.

• Experience with IPSec and SSL VPNs, access control, and secure remote access practices.

• Familiarity with network monitoring, management, and automation tools.

• Strong scripting and automation capabilities in Python, Bash, and PowerShell.

• Awareness of ISO, PCI, GDPR, and related regulatory requirements.

• Relevant certifications such as PCNSE, Fortinet NSE, F5 Certified BIG-IP Admin, CCNA/CCNP Security, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent are preferred.

• Experience with Zero Trust, WAFs, DDoS mitigation, secure hybrid and multi-cloud network infrastructures, and tools like Ansible or Terraform is preferred.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
