This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Oversee and assist with network management tools within the environment.
• Implement new vendor updates, security patches, and operating system upgrades.
• Ensure that network tools are current and adhere to AFS security standards.
• Collaborate with AFS IT stakeholders to evaluate network management tool reports.
• Define the scope and create or revise design and architecture documentation.
• Address support tickets and implement modifications through the change request process.
• Elevate issues and concerns to management as necessary.
• Provide support to network engineers/administrators for configuring and testing solutions.
• Carry out system maintenance, OS patching, and application releases on Linux-based network tools.
• Execute quality assurance tests to verify compliance with standards and requirements.
• Develop and transition operational processes and procedures for Operations teams.
• Must be a US Citizen residing on US soil (required).
• Applicants for employment in the US must possess work authorization that does not now or in the future necessitate visa sponsorship.
• A minimum of 3 years of expert-level experience in LAN technologies, including switches, routers, wireless, firewalls, and centralized monitoring and management in large-scale, high-availability settings.
• At least 2 years of experience in IT infrastructure, including TCP/IP, networking, and information system security principles, practices, and technologies.
• 3 years of experience working with core Internet routing protocols and services.
• 2 years of experience with Juniper SRX firewalls.
• 2 years of experience with Cisco FTD/Firepower.
• 1-2 years of experience with Palo Alto virtual firewall and Panorama Central Support solutions.
• 1 year of experience with Linux.
• Familiarity with Firemon, Algosec, or Tufin.
• Familiarity with Gluware, SolarWinds, or Ansible.
• Familiarity with Regex.
