This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.
• Design, implement, and maintain IP/MPLS core network solutions.
• Evaluate and validate new technologies and architectures within laboratory settings.
• Create engineering plans, cost estimates, and installation documentation.
• Offer escalation and troubleshooting assistance for network operations teams.
• Collaborate with various teams to ensure a robust, scalable, and high-performance network.
• Engage with carrier-grade, mission-critical networks and advanced telecommunications and networking technologies.
• Over 4 years of experience in a carrier Ethernet or large ISP setting.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking and network engineering principles.
• Practical experience with routers and switches (Nokia/Alcatel).
• Profound understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS).
• Familiarity with MPLS technologies (RSVP, LDP).
• Experience with Layer 2 technologies (VLANs, STP, LACP, MC-LAG).
• Capability to design networks that are scalable, highly available, and secure.
• Certifications such as Nokia NRS 1 or 2 are advantageous.
• Background in data center networking and transport technologies including fiber, microwave, and cellular is a plus.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week during standard daytime hours in the Alaska time zone.
