This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise and evaluate network architecture to ensure adherence to best practices while addressing intricate challenges. Take ownership of GFiber backbone design, reliability, traffic engineering, and capacity planning across both IP and optical layers.
• Lead the observability strategy and telemetry pipelines (SNMP, gNMI/Streaming Telemetry, IPFIX), optical performance monitoring, and develop the tools that convert network conditions into actionable insights.
• Strategize and design metro and long-haul optical transport: manage capacity growth, wavelength planning, and modernization of the DWDM line system.
• Establish and communicate team priorities that align with the overarching goals of the organization. Ensure strategic alignment, process integration, and decision-making across various teams.
• Define clear expectations for team members based on their respective levels and roles, ensuring alignment with the broader organizational objectives.
• Formulate long-term technical goals and a roadmap that extends beyond the immediate scope of your teams. Adapt the roadmap to address anticipated future requirements and infrastructure demands.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• A decade of experience in building and developing large-scale infrastructure, networks, or distributed systems, with a minimum of 3 years in a technical leadership role.
• Experience with ISP/carrier backbone: routing, switching, traffic engineering, and capacity modeling across multi-vendor platforms (Juniper, Nokia, Cisco, or similar).
• Expertise in optical transport: hands-on design and operation of DWDM metro and long-haul networks — including coherent optics, ROADM/Optical Line System architecture, OTN, and optical capacity planning.
• Proficient in software engineering applied to network automation and tooling, beyond mere scripting. Direct experience in programming with GO and/or Python, developing automation systems crucial for other engineers.
• Familiarity with modern network observability: streaming telemetry, network performance data analytics, and a comprehensive understanding of the trade-offs involved in designing an observability pipeline.
