Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and oversee enterprise and campus LAN/WAN infrastructure.

• Architect and manage cloud networking solutions on AWS and Azure platforms.

• Lead initiatives in network capacity planning, performance optimization, and high-availability/resilience design.

• Collaborate with the security team to configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, and access controls.

• Monitor the health of the network and diagnose complex issues related to connectivity, latency, and performance.

• Automate network provisioning and configuration management through scripting and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

• Ensure the accuracy of network documentation, diagrams, runbooks, and established standards.

• Respond to and take charge of resolving network incidents, which may include occasional on-call duties.

• Mentor junior engineers and offer technical guidance on network design choices.

• Collaborate with security, cloud, and IT support teams to meet business and project requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise and campus LAN/WAN infrastructure, encompassing switching, routing, wireless, and SD-WAN technologies.

• Demonstrated expertise in architecting and managing cloud networking solutions on AWS/Azure, including VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing, transit gateways, VPN, and hybrid connectivity (Direct Connect/ExpressRoute).

• Strong background in network capacity planning, performance tuning, and high-availability/resilience design.

• Proficiency in configuring and maintaining firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, and access controls.

• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools for assessing network health.

• Ability to troubleshoot intricate connectivity, latency, and performance challenges.

• Experience in automating network provisioning and configuration management using scripting and infrastructure-as-code.

• Skilled in maintaining network documentation, diagrams, runbooks, and standards.

• Experience in responding to and resolving network incidents, including occasional on-call responsibilities.

• Industry certifications such as CCNP / CCIE or cloud networking certifications are advantageous.

• Familiarity with SD-WAN networking and/or SASE solutions is a plus.

• Exposure to wireless design and management using Cisco, Aruba, or Meraki technologies is beneficial.

• Practical experience with firewall technologies such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower, or Check Point is a plus.

• Experience in environments compliant with SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, or NERC CIP is preferred.
