Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Administer, operate, and maintain the enterprise network.

• Conduct infrastructure upgrades and enhance both wired and wireless networks.

• Configure switches prior to dispatch to sites; travel to locations to execute switch upgrades.

• Provide detailed project status reports to project coordinators and managers.

• Optimize system operations and resource utilization.

• Perform system capacity analysis and planning.

• Plan and execute network engineering research, design development, and other tasks in alignment with network design, engineering, and customer specifications.

• Travel up to 50–75% to support sites across the US.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in both wired and wireless Cisco networks within a large Enterprise campus environment utilizing multi-layer routing protocols.

• Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting current CISCO switches, including those with Catalyst and Nexus IOS.

• Layer 3 experience in routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP (including Multi-homing, Load balancing traffic engineering for automatic failover), EIGRP, RIP, HSRP, WCCP, with preferred experience in Multicast and Flow analysis, as well as MPLS.

• Strong troubleshooting abilities across various layers, including Layer 1 (copper cabling issues / fiber signal strength), Layer 2 (spanning tree, VLAN tagging, MAC address tracing), Layer 3 (routing issues, EGP versus IGP redistribution, BGP attribute analysis, prefix length challenges), and Layers 4 through 7.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to comply with maintenance windows and change control protocols.
