Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructures for a varied client portfolio.

• Configure and oversee enterprise routing, switching, VLANs, wireless networks, and firewall systems.

• Deploy and manage VPN, SD-WAN, and secure connectivity solutions in both on-premises and cloud environments.

• Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Microsoft Entra ID environments.

• Execute network security measures, identity management solutions, and adhere to cybersecurity best practices.

• Support Azure networking technologies, which include virtual networks, VPN gateways, network security groups, and hybrid connectivity.

• Monitor network performance, identify issues, and proactively enhance network reliability, availability, and security.

• Conduct network assessments, infrastructure audits, documentation, and architecture evaluations.

• Lead or assist in network migrations, upgrades, and modernization projects with minimal disruption to clients.

• Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues while working with security, engineering, and support teams to achieve outstanding client results.

• Engage in scheduled maintenance and provide after-hours support as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of practical experience in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructures.

• Strong proficiency in VLAN configuration, routing protocols, switching technologies, network segmentation, and firewall management.

• Extensive experience with firewall platforms such as WatchGuard, SonicWall, Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or comparable enterprise security solutions.

• In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, RBAC, identity management, and authentication technologies.

• Experience in configuring and supporting Cisco, Aruba/HP, Dell, and UniFi switching and wireless environments.

• Practical experience with VPN technologies, SD-WAN, network security measures, and secure remote connectivity solutions.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure networking and hybrid cloud environments.

• Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, network security best practices, and compliance standards.

• Preferred certifications include CCNA, CCNP, Network+, Security+, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSA, or equivalent.

• Previous experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or consulting environment is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with ConnectWise, IT Glue, network monitoring platforms, and documentation tools is advantageous.

• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to interact professionally with clients and internal teams.

• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and perform effectively in a dynamic environment.
