Network Engineer – Advanced Networking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Diagnose and resolve issues related to networks, including firewalls, switches, wireless access points, VLANs, routing, VPNs, and overall connectivity.

• Manage and support firewall environments, executing rule modifications, VPN setups, firmware upgrades, and conducting security assessments.

• Set up and provide support for managed switches, addressing VLANs, trunking, port assignments, PoE, and firmware upkeep.

• Assist with wireless network management, which includes SSID setup, access point updates, coverage assessments, and performance troubleshooting.

• Monitor client networks and address alerts concerning device availability, performance, and connectivity issues.

• Collaborate on network projects, such as firewall replacements, switch upgrades, wireless deployments, and network refresh initiatives.

• Conduct network assessments to identify equipment that is end-of-life, end-of-support, unsupported, or improperly configured.

• Generate and maintain precise network documentation, including topology diagrams, device inventories, IP addressing, VLANs, and configuration notes.

• Liaise with vendors for support cases, RMAs, licensing, and troubleshooting when necessary.

• Adhere to established change management, documentation, and security protocols.

• Handle escalated network tickets from the service desk, NOC, or client-facing teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in an MSP or multi-client setting.

• Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as Auvik, Meraki Dashboard, SonicWall NSM, or comparable platforms.

• Experience supporting vendors like SonicWall, Meraki, Cisco, Ubiquiti, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Extreme, or similar systems.

• Background in conducting firewall reviews, switch audits, wireless evaluations, and planning for firmware upgrades.

• Certifications such as Network+, CCNA, Meraki ECMS, SonicWall SNSA, Fortinet NSE, or other network-related certifications are preferred.

• Experience in adhering to network documentation standards, creating topology diagrams, and reviewing client environments.
