This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Adjunct instructors are part-time staff members tasked with delivering high-quality instruction to the students at Bay Mills Community College.
• Deliver and facilitate educational instruction in line with the signed contract, course syllabus, and published course catalog.
• Attend all scheduled classes, labs, and clinics for the complete designated duration.
• Utilize teaching methods and media tailored to engage students with diverse educational and experiential backgrounds.
• Provide course syllabi that detail specific measurable course objectives, clear grading criteria and scale, prerequisites, student responsibilities, sequencing of instruction, assignments, and more.
• Evaluate students' understanding of course material and offer continual feedback.
• Maintain and submit records as required by the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of the Registrar, the Department Chair, and the Assessment Coordinator, adhering to set deadlines.
• Implement and comply with the college's Assessment of Student Learning Program.
• Suggest reference and instructional materials to the Department Chair and the college library.
• Organize and maintain necessary work hours for course planning and preparation, instruction, student advising, and general office hours.
• Keep a working knowledge of the BMCC administrative student management software system as it pertains to classroom management and student advising.
• Maintain familiarity with the MOODLE system.
• Adhere to college procedures and submit all necessary documentation for instructor absences, student complaints, violations of academic integrity, etc.
• Collaborate with the Department Chair in assessment and classroom-based research and assist in developing and refining the curriculum as required.
• A minimum educational qualification of a Certificate/Diploma in Anishinaabemowin or a related field, or a letter from the Instructor’s Tribal Council.
• At least two years of experience working with Tribal communities.
• Experience in working and/or teaching at a tribal college is preferred.
• Proficiency in curriculum development and instructing students both individually and in groups.
• Knowledge or experience with alternative teaching strategies such as group projects, hands-on learning, practical applications, computer-assisted instruction, distance learning, or team-teaching.
• Knowledge or experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs.
• Preferred knowledge or experience in working with Native Americans in an educational context.
