National Account Manager – Foodservice Sales

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage and expand a portfolio of national foodservice accounts, focusing on strategic chains, emerging growth customers, and new business ventures across the foodservice trade channel.

• Create and implement customer-specific annual and multi-year business plans that achieve revenue, volume, margin, distribution, innovation, and profitability goals.

• Identify, qualify, and nurture new account opportunities by developing a robust sales pipeline, utilizing customer insights, market trends, menu requirements, and the company’s fully cooked protein capabilities.

• Establish and sustain senior-level relationships with national account customers, distributor partners, brokers, and key internal stakeholders to enhance collaboration, execution, and long-term growth.

• Drive customer engagement across QSR, fast casual, casual dining, family dining, hospitality, and other foodservice segments where fully cooked protein solutions can add value.

• Collaborate with Marketing, Culinary, R&D, Operations, Finance, Quality, and Supply Chain to create branded, custom, and exclusive product solutions that meet customer menu, operational, food safety, and profitability needs.

• Facilitate product innovation and commercialization by transforming customer needs into actionable briefs, coordinating customer presentations and product cuttings, and guiding items from concept to launch.

• Negotiate pricing, contracts, trade programs, distributor agreements, limited-time offers, and account-specific investments that foster profitable growth and reinforce customer partnerships.

• Track account performance, forecast accuracy, deductions, trade spending, service levels, and key business metrics; proactively address risks, gaps, and opportunities with decisive corrective actions.

• Prepare and present strategic business reviews, innovation updates, and growth recommendations for customers and senior leadership, employing fact-based analysis and clear commercial storytelling.

• Represent the company at customer meetings, trade shows, food shows, plant visits, and industry events to cultivate relationships, showcase capabilities, and pinpoint growth opportunities.

• Maintain disciplined use of account planning tools, sales reporting, and internal communication processes to ensure visibility into pipeline, priorities, commitments, and next steps.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, foodservice management, or a related field is required; an MBA or further studies is preferred.

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in foodservice sales, national account management, or commercial leadership, ideally within food manufacturing, fully cooked proteins, value-added meat, poultry, or prepared foods.

• Proven national account hunter with a successful history of identifying, developing, closing, and expanding new business with strategic foodservice customers.

• Strong comprehension of branded, custom, and exclusive product development, customer menu strategy, commercialization, and innovation launch processes.

• Demonstrated capability to construct strategic account plans, manage sales pipelines, negotiate pricing and contracts, and achieve revenue, volume, margin, distribution, and profitability targets.

• Strong commercial insight with experience in analyzing account performance, customer profitability, trade spending, forecasting, and market trends to formulate fact-based growth recommendations.

• Established ability to lead cross-functional initiatives with Marketing, Culinary, R&D, Operations, Finance, Quality, Supply Chain, brokers, distributors, and customer stakeholders.

• Executive-level communication and presentation skills, with experience in preparing and delivering strategic business reviews, innovation updates, and recommendations to customers and senior leadership.

• Proficient with account planning tools, sales reporting systems, Microsoft Office, and data-driven business analysis.

• Willingness and ability to travel at least 30% for customer meetings, trade shows, food shows, plant visits, and industry events.
