
MySQL/Postgres Database Administrator, 2-4 Years Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Address client support inquiries within designated SLA response times
• Diagnose and resolve typical database issues, including performance challenges, connectivity troubles, blocking, and fundamental replication matters across MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Clearly communicate the status of tickets to team members and clients
• Thoroughly document issue resolutions in our Ticket Management System
• Log time spent assisting clients in real-time
• Engage in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours support
• Execute installation and patching of MySQL and PostgreSQL database software
• Conduct proactive monitoring and routine maintenance of databases
• Carry out and verify backups and restores
• Support performance tuning initiatives, including query assessments and index suggestions
• Assist with high availability and disaster recovery procedures under the guidance of senior team members
• Create and maintain scripts to facilitate routine database operations
• Escalate intricate architectural or performance challenges to Senior DBAs and document findings for client-facing summaries
• Contribute to and adhere to internal process and support documentation
• 2 to 4 years of practical database administration experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or both
• Proficient knowledge of installation, configuration, and patching procedures for MySQL and/or PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with replication concepts, including MySQL master-slave replication or PostgreSQL streaming replication
• Experience in performing and validating backups and restores
• Strong understanding of SQL, encompassing writing and troubleshooting queries
• Exposure to basic performance tuning, such as index reviews and query analysis
• Basic scripting skills in Bash, Shell, or Python for routine automation support
• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows Server environments
• Customer Service: Effectively listens to and responds to customer inquiries; resolves issues to the customer's satisfaction while respecting all internal and external customers and adopting a team approach to surpass expectations.
• Ability to Multi-Task: Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple issues or projects effectively, bringing them to resolution in a timely manner.
• Problem Solving: Identifies and accurately assesses problems, employing structured troubleshooting for resolution and knowing when to escalate.
• Detail Oriented: Diligence in completing tasks thoroughly, considering all aspects, no matter how minor. Monitors and checks work while efficiently organizing time and resources.
