This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of and manage the 246-table, 4,080-field Oracle 19c database that underpins the application portfolio.
• Conduct database performance optimization, capacity planning, and troubleshooting efforts.
• Design, develop, and enhance complex SQL queries to meet application and reporting requirements.
• Facilitate Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) needs for contemporary reporting tools.
• Collaborate with the CIO/G6 on on-premises database management tasks and assist in the migration to the CWBI Cloud environment.
• Promote secure coding practices and ensure STIG compliance in database code and access controls.
• Aid in fulfilling CWBI Data Strategy Data Checklist obligations, including data categorization, metadata standards, and dataset registration in the USACE CW Data Catalog.
• Document data flows within the RMF authorization boundary.
• Support continuous monitoring and remediation of vulnerabilities related to the database layer.
• Engage in bi-weekly Agile sprint cycles and contribute to release planning and demonstrations.
• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
• A minimum of an active Tier 1 (or higher) federal background investigation, favorably adjudicated, is required before starting.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience) is necessary.
• At least 5–7 years of experience in administering Oracle databases in production settings is required.
• In-depth knowledge of Oracle systems principles, administration, and performance tuning is essential.
• Proficiency in programming, scripting, and developing complex queries is expected.
• Experience in constructing, managing, and supporting databases for web-enabled applications is needed.
• Familiarity with ODBC requirements for modern reporting tools is important.
• Working knowledge of Agile/DevSecOps methodologies is preferred.
• CompTIA Security+ or DoD 8140-approved equivalent must be obtained within six (6) months of contract commencement.
• Ability to acquire a CAC if required by the role.
• Oracle certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) is preferred.
• Experience with cloud database migration, particularly within AWS GovCloud, is advantageous.
• A background in federal government or DoD database administration is preferred.
• Familiarity with DoD STIGs as they apply to database systems is preferred.
