This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Address incoming mortgage inquiries via phone, email, online banking, digital platforms, referrals, and other authorized channels.
• Conduct interviews with members and potential borrowers to gauge their financing requirements, financial situations, goals, and timelines.
• Provide members with insights on mortgage products, terms, rates, requirements, repayment options, and associated costs.
• Suggest suitable mortgage solutions based on members' needs, financial profiles, loan purposes, and lending programs.
• Initiate and oversee mortgage applications from the first inquiry to the closing stage.
• Gather, review, and evaluate borrower information and documentation.
• Underwrite, approve, recommend, or decline mortgage applications within established lending authority and guidelines.
• Collaborate on complex, high-value, or high-risk mortgage loans with internal partners.
• Maintain ownership of member relationships and provide timely updates on their status.
• Manage follow-up actions on assigned inbound mortgage opportunities.
• Work in partnership with processors, credit analysts, underwriting, closing, lending support, and external transaction partners.
• Ensure that disclosures, closing documents, HMDA information, and other loan documentation are accurate and provided in a timely manner.
• Evaluate and implement pricing and sale of residential mortgage loans in alignment with policies and secondary-market requirements.
• Achieve a file quality target of 97% or higher.
• Identify cross-selling and referral opportunities for additional Credit Union products and services.
• Stay informed about mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, regulations, and secondary-market requirements.
• Meet objectives related to mortgage production, loan quality, member experience, response times, efficiency, and fee income.
• Adhere to relevant federal and state laws, regulations, Credit Union policies, and lending procedures.
• An associate degree in business, finance, banking, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required.
• A minimum of 1 year of current mortgage lending experience within a financial institution is required.
• An active NMLS Mortgage Loan Originator Identifier is required.
• Proven knowledge of residential mortgage lending products, underwriting principles, documentation requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple mortgage applications and priorities while ensuring accuracy and meeting established service-level expectations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, with the ability to learn and effectively utilize mortgage loan origination and other Credit Union systems.
• A demonstrated commitment to delivering an exceptional member experience.
• Availability from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm CST.
