Mobile Lead Engineer, React Native

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Lead Engineer specializing in mobile development for a project centered on a cross-platform React Native application (iOS and Android) that discovers, connects to, and manages BLE hardware.

• Integration of native modules: connecting a vendor-provided Bluetooth SDK into React Native and managing the bridge effectively.

• Cross-platform handling of BLE identifiers, where iOS provides a unique UUID per pairing and Android directly exposes the MAC address.

• Implementation of lock and unlock processes with strict timing requirements.

• Facilitating over-the-air firmware updates for connected devices.

• Prioritizing offline-first functionality.

• Ensuring secure storage of credentials.

• Providing real-time device status updates: including battery level, firmware version, and connectivity state.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive production experience with React Native, including applications successfully launched on the App Store and Google Play.

• Proficiency in writing or integrating native modules (Swift/Kotlin) when the JavaScript layer does not suffice.

• Strong understanding of mobile state management, asynchronous processes, and the nuances of debugging on physical devices instead of simulators.

• A proactive approach to addressing edge cases and failure scenarios early in the development process, rather than waiting for QA to identify them.

• Proficient in English with availability during US Eastern business hours.

• Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).

• A portfolio showcasing IoT applications.

• Background in B2B or enterprise applications rather than solely consumer-focused apps.
