Migration Consultant – Modern Platforms Advisory

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure delivery excellence and exceptional customer experiences.

• Support the analysis of a client's IT environment, designing a migration strategy, and managing the transfer of an organization's applications, data, and infrastructure.

• Contribute to the formulation of a detailed migration strategy based on both business and technical needs.

• Evaluate the existing IT landscape and determine the scope of migration.

• Assist in selecting the appropriate hosting model and cloud service providers.

• Create comprehensive migration and/or transformation plans.

• Aggregate data from various sources, identify gaps, and compile information to establish complete master inventories.

• Formulate migration plans that encompass rehosting, re-platforming, re-architecting, and replacing legacy systems.

• Identify dependencies and potential risks tied to migrations.

• Deliver suitable services to enhance performance.

• Steer the migration process to reduce downtime and minimize business disruption.

• Collaborate closely with infrastructure, DevOps, security, and networking teams to define configuration requirements.

• Supervise data migration, application refactoring, and integration with cloud-native services.

• Occasionally provide post-implementation support and troubleshooting for clients.

• Offer optimization recommendations to boost cost-effectiveness and efficiency after migration.

• Partner with business leaders, developers, and IT teams to align cloud migration objectives.

• Assist in creating training materials for client technology teams regarding migration processes and best practices.

• Communicate migration progress, risks, and solutions to stakeholders.

• Possess technical writing skills to produce professional documentation for client review.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, including military experience.

• Over 3 years of experience in the IT sector.

• At least 1 year of experience in migration projects.

• Strong problem-solving capabilities.

• Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.

• Solid understanding of IaaS and PaaS cloud services.

• Familiarity with the primary infrastructure building blocks and their fundamental principles – compute, storage, and networking.

• Good grasp of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, MS Hyper-V).

• Knowledge of cloud or on-premise migration tools and methodologies.

• Excellent project management skills and client communication proficiency.

• A strong desire to learn and adapt in a rapidly changing environment.

• Highly self-motivated, proactive, and a self-starter.

• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and adhere to deadlines.

• Capability to accurately diagram and document a working environment.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative setting.
