This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
• Deliver designated course material in an online setting
• Provide instruction, support, and assistance while overseeing the learning process
• Track student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
• Collaborate closely with students and parents/learning coaches to promote learning towards set objectives
• Ensure that special education and related services are provided as outlined by the IEP team
• Communicate with parents and related service personnel concerning appropriate therapies
• Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary special education documentation
• Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings
• Implement accommodations and modifications utilizing assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text
• Adjust Stride K12 lessons and assessments in accordance with IEPs
• Promote student inclusion and success within the general education classroom
• Gather data and work samples to monitor progress towards IEP goals
• Document parent interactions and student interventions
• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities
• Maintain the grade book and make decisions regarding student placement and advancement
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments
• Build positive relationships with families and communicate promptly with students and parents/learning coaches
• Assist learning coaches and parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting
• Travel up to 20% for professional development, student testing, and/or school obligations
• Alabama 6-12 Special Education Teaching Certificate
• Residency in Alabama
• Bachelor’s degree
• Active state teaching license
• Capability to pass required background checks
• Ability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week
• Capacity to maintain a professional home office without distractions during the workday
• Skill in collaborating with teachers to interpret and generate numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data
• Proficient in using student data to inform instructional choices
• Open to regular coaching from administrators
• Willingness to embrace change and adapt to ensure outstanding student outcomes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication capabilities
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
• Experience with the specified age group, technology support, online teaching, traditional teaching, and online learning platforms is preferred
