Mid-level Software Engineer – Backend, Python/Django

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Tackle intricate domain-modeling challenges within the energy sector.

• Develop robust, fault-tolerant software primarily utilizing Python, Django, GraphQL, Celery, and PostgreSQL.

• Produce clean code alongside unit, integration, and functional tests.

• Diagnose production issues employing structured approaches.

• Gain knowledge and work within a large, multifaceted codebase.

• Draft documentation for features and stakeholders.

• Take ownership and deliver on medium-scale engineering challenges.

• Identify and address gaps in system observability while managing technical escalations autonomously.

• Mentor junior engineers and support their onboarding process.

• Engage in hiring debriefs.

• Collaborate across various domains to advocate for best practices in performance, security, and testability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Typically 4–8 years of experience for Engineer II positions.

• Strong technical coding skills equivalent to a senior engineer level.

• Proficiency in Python and Django or a comparable web framework.

• Understanding of domain modeling and architectural design.

• Familiarity with GraphQL.

• Capability to write robust and fault-tolerant software.

• Experience with Celery and asynchronous processing.

• Proficient in PostgreSQL.

• Eligibility to work in Japan at the time of application.

• Proficiency in both English and Japanese.
