This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +7 more states.
• Take charge of the product portfolio strategy and identify assortment gaps.
• Define the product's path to market, whether to build, manufacture, or source.
• Create and oversee product business cases that include revenue, margin, pricing inputs, and unit economics.
• Manage decisions throughout the product lifecycle, including iteration, repositioning, and sunsetting.
• Specify product requirements, success metrics, and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate across functions to ensure effective product delivery.
• Act as the internal owner for designated product lines.
• Analyze categories to pinpoint assortment gaps and opportunities for growth.
• Suggest product additions, deletions, and changes in assortment.
• Monitor category performance and refine strategy based on data and insights.
• Develop roadmaps and strategies for category assortment.
• Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with key vendors and manufacturers.
• Serve as the primary contact for products and assortment with vendors and manufacturers.
• Involve partners early in the product discovery and lifecycle planning phases.
• Integrate partner insights into product and assortment strategy.
• Manage product-level pricing strategy, target margins, and business case assumptions.
• Work closely with the Director of Engineering and sourcing team on domestic sourcing initiatives.
• Significantly influence overseas sourcing efforts led by Engineering.
• Validate pricing and sourcing results against approved business cases.
• Maintain ownership of economic outcomes and strategic alignment.
• Develop merchandising plans that align with category and promotional strategies.
• Ensure consistent product presentation standards across platforms and partner sites.
• Provide support for sales and line review activities as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Over 5 years of experience in Product Management with exposure to merchandising.
• Previous experience in energy efficiency products or utility energy efficiency programs is highly preferred.
• Prior experience with hardware is strongly desired.
• Solid understanding of Product Management fundamentals with comprehensive lifecycle ownership.
• Proven track record in managing product economics and developing business cases.
• Extensive expertise in merchandising and category management.
• Experience collaborating with vendors and manufacturers.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Reliable transportation is required.
