Member of Technical Staff, Staff Physicist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Assess and evaluate the model's reasoning in physics, pinpointing subtle conceptual inaccuracies and erroneous assumptions.

• Deliver clear corrections, alternative derivations, and minimal counterexamples to illustrate what constitutes “good” scientific reasoning.

• Convert domain expertise into actionable enhancements for model behavior, reasoning patterns, and tool utilization.

• Develop gold-standard solutions and reference outputs for training and refinement.

• Assess and rank model outputs to enhance scientific reasoning through expert feedback mechanisms.

• Assist in building and managing our external Collaborators program, coordinating expert review cycles and incorporating feedback into training and evaluation processes.

• Contribute to high-quality research outputs (benchmarks, datasets, technical reports, preprints) that adhere to publishable standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD in Physics or a closely related discipline, with a level of research maturity equivalent to postdoctoral experience.

• Demonstrated ability to reason at a research level in physics and rigorously evaluate proofs, derivations, and scientific arguments.

• Strong scientific programming capabilities (Python) and familiarity with research tools (Git, LaTeX).

• Clear and precise communicator with the ability to translate complex concepts into sharp critiques, guidance, and evaluation frameworks.

• Comfortable working in a dynamic, cross-functional environment alongside researchers and engineers.

• Mission-oriented, possessing an entrepreneurial mindset and a keen interest in addressing foundational challenges in science.
