Medicare Collections Representative

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Follow up with insurance providers to address outstanding claims

• Investigate overdue account balances and reach out to insurance carriers or clients concerning overdue payments

• Examine unpaid and underpaid claims; resubmit or appeal them as necessary

• Confirm payment information adjustments in collaboration with the supervisor

• Organize collection efforts by compiling information for external collection agencies or legal representatives

• Address customer inquiries regarding the status of their accounts

• Conduct thorough research and documentation of customer accounts

• Resolve discrepancies and prepare necessary adjustments and refunds

• Enter collection activity details accurately into the billing system

• Bring recurring issues to the attention of the department supervisor

• Initiate payments and resubmit bills as required

• Pursue patient payment responsibilities when insurance defaults, as allowed by law or contractual agreements

• Report on time and maintain dependable, consistent attendance

• Carry out additional duties as assigned

⛳️ Requirements

• Must reside in EST or CST time zones

• A high school diploma is mandatory

• At least one year of related experience is essential

• Basic proficiency in Word and Excel is required

• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English

• Basic mathematical skills are necessary

• Capability to understand, interpret, and manage spreadsheet data

• Ability to perform essential physical functions, including frequent sitting or standing, repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, color vision, and adjusting focus

• Occasional capability to lift, carry, walk, climb, kneel, bend/stoop, twist, pull/push, and reach above shoulder level

• Occasional travel may be required
