Medical Scribe

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Confirm insurance eligibility and benefits for all patients before their appointments.

• Skilled in reading, analyzing, and interpreting CPT codes, authorization requirements, and associated payer information to evaluate eligibility, obtain approvals (including prior authorizations for neurology-specific procedures), and mitigate claim denials.

• Input, update, and maintain precise patient and insurance information in the practice management system.

• Engage with patients to resolve discrepancies in insurance information and clarify their coverage related to our neurology services.

• Collaborate with the billing department to resolve any issues that may impact the billing process.

• Work closely with insurance providers to troubleshoot issues and gather necessary information.

• Assist patients with inquiries about their insurance coverage and out-of-pocket expenses.

• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other federal/state regulations concerning patient information and privacy.

• Input patient data into both Phreesia and Allscripts EHR.

• Perform miscellaneous billing tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare insurance verification, medical billing, or a related field; experience in a neurology or specialty practice is preferred.

• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 codes, particularly those relevant to neurology (e.g., for diagnostic testing and procedures).

• Proficient in practice management software and electronic health records (EHR). We currently utilize the Allscripts (Veradigm) EMR system.

• Strong understanding of insurance processes, including knowledge of various types of insurance plans (PPO, HMO, EPO, Medicaid/Medicare, etc.) and medical billing practices, emphasizing specialty care requirements.
