This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the field-based medical/scientific authority for Verastem Oncology.

• Interact with healthcare providers to deliver fair and balanced education regarding investigational products and related disease areas.

• Build and sustain collaborative partnerships with investigators, institutions, groups, and consortia.

• Enhance company visibility and engage with both current and prospective oncology leaders.

• Take part in medical education initiatives for healthcare professionals, including participation in formulary committees.

• Ensure that necessary education and training are provided at clinical sites.

• Identify clinical research opportunities that align with the company's objectives.

• Serve as the main contact for investigator-initiated research from concept submission through to publication.

• Convey clinical and research insights to influence company research directions.

• Maintain clinical and scientific proficiency through ongoing training, conferences, workshops, and publications.

• Collect and share compliant competitive intelligence.

• Mentor members of the MSL team and contribute to the broader Medical Affairs team.

• Manage the administrative components of regional field activities.

• Provide medical leadership for internal cross-functional programs and projects.

• Address unsolicited medical information inquiries.

• Prepare timely reports, project plans, and necessary documentation.

• Senior MSL: assist in publication planning, slide-deck creation, training efforts, and the implementation of the Medical Strategy Plan.

• Senior MSL: spearhead national priority projects, cross-functional initiatives, and select external collaborations.

• Senior MSL: mentor or coach fellow MSLs and coordinate advanced training initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced Clinical/Science degree (MSN, PharmD, PhD) or equivalent professional credentials required.

• Previous experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical sector is highly preferred.

• Prior experience as an MSL or in a relevant role is strongly preferred.

• A minimum of 3 years of oncology experience is strongly preferred.

• Senior MSL: at least five (5) years in Pharmaceutical Industry Medical Affairs as an MSL.

• Familiarity with treatment, compliance, and regulatory guidelines is essential.

• Understanding of treatment guidelines (NCCN, ASCO, ESMO, etc.), clinical research processes, FDA regulations, CMS reimbursement coverage processes, and OIG guidelines is necessary.

• Willingness to travel up to 65% of the time.

• Approximately 60–70% domestic travel is required.

• Exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation abilities.

• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.

• Capability to think strategically and apply analytical knowledge.

• Ability to summarize and present complex scientific information clearly, concisely, confidently, and accurately.

• Proficient in networking and partnering with external customers, medical thought leaders, academic institutions, research consortia, practice networks, and other healthcare organizations.

• Proven effective leadership capabilities.

• Extensive therapeutic knowledge and current awareness of oncology/translational science.

• Knowledge or experience in ovarian cancer/gynecologic oncology is a plus.

• Solid tumor experience is preferred for Senior MSL.
