This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +4 more states.
• Act as the field-based medical representative for Medical Affairs.
• Enhance awareness of Ascendis Pharma within the endocrinology community and convey the transformative potential of TransCon technology in endocrinology practice.
• Maintain a high level of medical knowledge to support the portfolio and pipeline, as well as relevant disease states (e.g., bone and growth disorders).
• Deliver medical and scientific presentations to both internal and external audiences.
• Identify key opinion leaders (KOLs) and prominent organizations (e.g., professional associations, patient advocacy groups) relevant to disease states in the designated geography.
• Assess the scientific needs of healthcare providers (HCPs), researchers, and patient advocates critical to patient care in the geography.
• Develop and uphold a KOL engagement strategy that fosters collaborative relationships in the region.
• Gather external insights regarding disease states, the Ascendis portfolio and pipeline, and competitors, and communicate these insights to internal stakeholders promptly and effectively.
• Build strong partnerships with internal colleagues (e.g., Market Access, Marketing, and Sales) by offering medical expertise and support as necessary.
• Collaborate with Medical Outcomes Scientific Liaisons (MOSLs) to assist with regional objectives (e.g., scientific support, internal/external presentations).
• Contribute to the formulation and execution of the Field Medical Team's strategic goals and objectives.
• Provide scientific support at medical congresses, including participation in clinical data presentations, scientific discussions at the medical affairs booth, and internal or external meetings.
• Facilitate internal onboarding and provide ongoing medical training for both commercial and medical colleagues.
• Engage with external researchers as a primary contact for those interested in investigator-initiated trials (IITs).
• Support clinical trial operations to ensure the success of planned and ongoing clinical trials, which includes identifying, supporting, and regularly engaging clinical trial investigators and sites. Participate in patient recruitment activities as necessary.
• Record all relevant activities in the CRM platform.
• Ensure comprehension of and adherence to departmental and corporate policies and procedures.
• MD/PhD/PharmD or equivalent degree required.
• At least 5+ years of pharmaceutical experience as a medical science liaison is necessary.
• Experience in pediatric endocrinology, endocrinology, or rare diseases is preferred.
• Must be outgoing and value interactions with healthcare providers and researchers.
• A strong passion for patient care is essential.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey scientific and clinical information in both virtual and live settings.
• Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of individuals to achieve results.
• Capacity to work independently and manage one's own work schedule effectively.
• Capability to make decisions impacting the department’s credibility, operations, and services significantly.
• Proficiency in creating materials such as reports and presentations, and the ability to present to both internal and external audiences.
• Must reside near a major airport hub within the geography.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license in the state of residence and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
• Estimated travel requirement of approximately 50-75%.
