This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accurately and efficiently process requests for the release of information
• Retrieve and return medical charts of patients
• Scan and transmit medical records in accordance with requests and established standards
• Date-stamp requests and emphasize relevant data
• Validate requests and authorizations for the release of medical information
• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing
• Maintain equipment in optimal working condition
• Deliver attentive, respectful, and proactive customer service
• Handle incoming requests via mail, telephone, and fax as necessary
• Uphold a professional appearance and keep a clean, organized work environment
• Stay informed about state laws and fee structures
• Assist additional facilities and provide support during peak times
• Adhere to client/site policies, HIPAA guidelines, and state/federal labor regulations
• Protect confidential and privileged medical information
• High School Diploma (GED) is required
• A minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a medical records department or similar setting is preferred
• Proficient in computer software
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Ability to type at least 50 words per minute
• Capability to operate fax machines, copiers, and scanning devices
• Willingness to quickly learn new equipment and processes
• Self-motivated individual who works well in a team
• Demonstrated customer satisfaction skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
