Medical Records Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accurately and efficiently process requests for the release of information within established timeframes.

• Retrieve and return medical charts for patients.

• Scan medical records with precision and transmit them daily based on requests and procedures.

• Date stamp requests and highlight relevant information.

• Validate requests and authorizations for the release of medical information.

• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, proper invoicing, and compliant releases.

• Maintain equipment in excellent working condition.

• Deliver attentive and respectful customer service while addressing client concerns.

• Receive incoming requests via mail, telephone, and fax as necessary.

• Uphold a professional appearance and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

• Ensure proper storage of records and files.

• Accept assignments, support additional facilities, and assist with backlogs.

• Protect patient privacy while upholding confidentiality, security, and ethical standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma (GED) is required.

• A minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a medical records department or a similar environment is preferred.

• Strong experience with computer software is essential.

• General working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

• Excellent organizational skills are necessary.

• Ability to type at least 50 words per minute is required.

• Proficient in using fax machines, copiers, and scanning devices.

• Willingness to quickly learn new equipment and processes is essential.

• Must be self-motivated and able to work well within a team.

• Demonstrated customer satisfaction skills are required.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously is necessary.

• Knowledge of current state laws and fee structures is important.

• Compliance with HIPAA, state and federal regulations, as well as labor regulations, is required.
