This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +22 more states.
• Oversee and evaluate the work of subordinate staff while providing support for training and ongoing education initiatives.
• Apply ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions to medical records.
• Examine medical records to ensure the accuracy of diagnoses, procedures, and optimal reimbursement for hospital and/or professional services.
• Extract information from medical records in accordance with established procedures and methodologies.
• Analyze complex medical records and accurately assign codes for primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and/or CPT coding guidelines.
• Maintain the quality and productivity of work through regular auditing processes.
• Contribute to the research, development, and delivery of continuing education programs in specialized areas.
• Keep an in-depth understanding of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease processes, and surgical techniques by engaging in continuing education opportunities.
• A high school diploma is necessary.
• Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) is required—no prior experience needed.
• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is required—no prior experience needed.
• Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) requires one year of coding experience.
• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Homecare Coding Specialist-Diagnosis (HCS-D) requires two years of coding experience.
• Candidates must possess one of the following active/current certifications: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Hospital Coding Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Hospital Coding Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Hospital Coding Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Homecare Coding, or Homecare Coding Specialist-Diagnosis (HCS-D).
• Currently offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus, distributed in four equal installments over a 24-month period, at six-month intervals.
