Cardiology Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Examine outpatient, physician, or emergency room medical records to pinpoint relevant diagnoses and procedures.

• Deliver coding and abstracting services utilizing ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding systems.

• Extract the necessary information in accordance with client guidelines.

• Resolve unclear or contradictory documentation with physicians.

• Allocate diagnostic and procedural codes following a comprehensive review of medical records.

• Guide and mentor training coders and/or new hires through educational support and training.

• Stay updated with the Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.

• Engage in industry forums and promote coding education within the team.

• Enhance the company's reputation through professionalism, adaptability, and mutual respect.

⛳️ Requirements

• CPC certification is mandatory.

• Proficiency with Epic/3M 360 is required.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in professional fee cardiac coding is essential.

• Capability to code Clinic E&M and CPTs is required.

• Ability to code echocardiograms, remote monitoring, and EKGs is necessary.

• Experience with observation and inpatient chart coding is a plus.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes is expected.

• In-depth understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding principles and guidelines is required.

• Knowledge of reimbursement systems and documentation, coding, and billing regulations and policies at federal, state, and payer-specific levels is necessary.

• Candidates must successfully complete a coding proficiency test.
