Cardiology Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Examine medical records to pinpoint relevant diagnoses and procedures associated with the patient's healthcare visit.

• Extract necessary information from medical records following client protocols.

• Resolve any unclear or conflicting documentation with physicians based on client-supplied guidelines.

• Guide and train coding staff and/or newcomers through comprehensive education and training.

• Stay informed on the latest Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.

• Ensure effective and professional communication.

• Engage in industry discussions and promote coding education within the team.

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes after a detailed review of medical records utilizing ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• CPC certification is mandatory.

• Familiarity with Epic/3M 360 is required.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in professional fee cardiac coding is essential.

• Capability to code Clinic E&M and CPTs is necessary.

• Proficiency in coding echocardiograms, remote monitoring, and EKGs is expected.

• Experience with observation and inpatient chart coding is advantageous.

• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes is required.

• In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding principles and guidelines is essential.

• Awareness of reimbursement systems and federal, state, and payer-specific documentation, coding, and billing regulations and policies is necessary.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.

• Must successfully pass a coding proficiency assessment.
