Medical Director – Rheumatology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Offer medical support for designated projects as either the Global Lead Physician or Regional Lead Physician.

• Engage in study planning alongside feasibility leaders, solution consultants, and cross-functional study teams.

• Participate in project team and investigator meetings.

• Educate study teams on rheumatology indications, disease areas, clinical considerations, and study protocols.

• Liaise with sponsor counterparts regarding medical issues, challenges, risks, and achievements.

• Create and conduct medical reviews of clinical protocols, Medical Monitoring Plans, integrated clinical and statistical summary reports, safety plans, and Informed Consent Forms.

• Oversee medical monitoring activities throughout the study execution.

• Provide medical leadership in collaboration with the Project Leader.

• Contribute medical insights into pharmacovigilance workflows, safety processing, and serious adverse event assessments.

• Establish and nurture medical and consultative relationships with clients and sponsor stakeholders.

• Counsel clients on rheumatology clinical development programs and studies.

• Assist Business Development and early engagement initiatives with therapeutic and medical expertise.

• Consult on protocol formulation and broader drug development initiatives.

• Conduct medical reviews of clinical and regulatory documentation for client or regulatory agency evaluation.

• Offer rheumatology expertise, guidance, and training to Parexel colleagues.

• Provide expertise for proposals, bid-defence activities, and client discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Medical degree from an accredited medical school.

• Completion of relevant postgraduate clinical training.

• Specialized postgraduate clinical training and expertise in Rheumatology.

• Current and thorough knowledge of rheumatology and the management of related inflammatory, autoimmune, and musculoskeletal diseases.

• Clinical practice experience in the field of Rheumatology.

• Background in clinical aspects of drug development, including Medical Monitoring and clinical study design and/or implementation.

• Proficient in written and spoken English.

• Exceptional interpersonal and medical communication skills.

• Strong client-focused mindset.

• Excellent time-management and organizational abilities.

• Flexible approach to work tasks and eagerness for continuous learning.

• Capable of managing diverse tasks, prioritizing effectively, and maintaining meticulous attention to detail.

• Strong appreciation for teamwork and collaboration across medical, clinical, safety, and operational functions.

• Experience in supporting clinical development programs or clinical trials in rheumatology is a significant advantage.

• Experience in rheumatology clinical research or clinical trials is highly desirable.

• Good understanding of drug development, including drug safety/pharmacovigilance, is preferred.

• Experience in Pharmaceutical Medicine is a plus.

• Experience in leading, mentoring, or managing physicians or multidisciplinary teams is preferred.

• Postgraduate specialist training or recognized specialist qualification in Rheumatology is highly preferred.
