Medical Director, Clinical Program Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the protocols that guide Wheel's virtual on-demand, urgent, and convenience care services.

• Create, revise, and enhance the clinical protocols that support Wheel's care initiatives.

• Ensure protocols are integrated across all partners and effectively translated into platform logic.

• Spearhead and expand Wheel's clinical quality assurance program.

• Incorporate AI into the quality assurance processes and convert findings into actionable insights for the clinical network.

• Establish frameworks and procedures to monitor patient and clinical outcomes.

• Utilize outcome data to enhance the quality of care over time.

• Oversee clinical patient-safety escalation protocols and manage active escalations.

• Uphold consistent clinical standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.

• Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.

• Significant clinical practice experience, including virtual care or telemedicine.

• Previous clinical leadership experience managing teams in telehealth, digital health, or a high-volume virtual setting.

• Practical experience with clinical quality assurance — including the development, execution, or auditing of a QA program.

• Background in authoring and maintaining clinical protocols.

• Basic knowledge of AI tools and software.

• Active medical license in good standing in one or more states.

• Capable of passing NCQA credentialing and Wheel's standardized background checks.

• Preferred experience in primary care.

• Experience in integrating AI or automation into clinical quality or protocol workflows.

• Familiarity with EHR configuration, clinical decision support, or point-of-care tools.

• Multi-state licensure is a plus.

• ABOM Certification or expertise in cardio-metabolic conditions.
