Media Writer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Compose news releases, pitches, and various press materials as requested by the Media Relations Department, other departments, and PETA's international branches.

• Draft and edit official correspondence directed to the media.

• Develop interview facts for staff spokespeople and prepare media statements for all campaigns and projects.

• Critically assess all news release request forms to identify what information is suitable for press materials.

• Stay informed about PETA entities’ campaigns and integrate evolving elements into press materials.

• Utilize PETA's in-house style guide for all written press documents.

• Execute any additional responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

• At least three years of professional writing experience; experience in newspaper or magazine writing is preferred.

• Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of the media landscape.

• Passion for animal liberation issues and PETA campaigns.

• Ability to manage high-pressure situations with tact and diplomacy.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven capability to engage with a diverse range of individuals in a professional manner.

• Proven ability to perform well under pressure and adhere to deadlines.

• Demonstrated initiative and capability to follow through on tasks.

• Proven sound judgment and ability to work independently.

• Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
