This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Process quoting
• Analyze customer specifications to create cost-effective solutions for control systems and mechanical components based on application needs.
• Develop precise 2D machine floor layouts accompanied by necessary 3D models.
• Assemble process diagrams and compile relevant inquiries.
• Create timing and sequence charts for all motion-based assembly and testing tasks.
• Conduct thorough document reviews to ensure compliance with customer specifications and PMD standards.
• Perform part or system tolerance analysis.
• Related to Build-To-Print (BTP) projects.
• Detail estimating and reviewing processes with colleagues and fabrication teams.
• Monitor estimated totals before and after evaluations for comparison purposes.
• Engage in estimating shop disciplines.
• Oversee assembly, wiring, plumbing, debugging, skid preparation, and installation.
• Participate in peer reviews.
• Handle other related processes as necessary.
• Join concept meetings and raise pertinent questions.
• Prepare comprehensive estimates of time, quantities, labor, and material costs required for mechanical and control design, software development, machine assembly, plumbing, equipment installations, and acceptance testing.
• Evaluate customer specifications to devise solutions utilizing available hardware and cost data.
• Review vendor quotes and PMD quotations for precision.
• Present machine solutions to potential customers.
• Adhere to global safety protocols.
• Whenever possible, walk through the assembly floor with team members.
• Remote personnel must select an ongoing project and analyze its design.
• Follow through all awarded jobs until installation completion.
• Attend team meetings, customer calls, and design meetings whenever feasible.
• Maintain a list of lessons learned to share with the applications team.
• Review available videos of similar machines when accessible.
• Assist in documenting and enhancing processes, and work on updating the cost library.
• Conduct tolerance analysis as necessary for all projects being undertaken or assisted.
• Provide guidance to the design team during the initial design phase.
• Establish timing and sequence charts for all motion-based assembly and test tasks.
• Travel to customer sites to collect project-critical information.
• Perform peer reviews of other concepts, cost estimates, and quoting documents.
• Mentor junior applications engineers and offer technical guidance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics or relevant experience.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• At least 10 years of experience in the automation equipment industry and/or 8 years of experience in quoting automation equipment.
• Knowledge and practical experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting general technical procedures.
• Capable of writing technical reports.
• Comfortable presenting concepts and pricing information in a clear and concise manner to technical audiences.
