This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +12 more states.
• Act as the technical expert for projects involving mechanical structural support assemblies and coolant pumping components.
• Facilitate collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, and field execution to ensure that metal frame designs are structurally robust, cost-efficient, and feasible for production.
• Guarantee that frames can withstand dynamic loads, maintain proper component alignment, and endure external forces and environmental conditions.
• Participate in both immediate and future research and development initiatives.
• Develop, verify, and enhance detailed metal framing designs and shop drawings utilizing 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks.
• Ensure that framing designs adhere to fabrication constraints, optimize material usage, and minimize tooling and waste rates.
• Confirm that metal frame designs comply with local building regulations, load specifications, and industry norms.
• Assess structural failures, identify interferences, and address manufacturing defects, providing data-driven solutions.
• Serve as the main technical contact among clients, manufacturing teams, and both internal and external supply partners.
• Guide engineers, technicians, and production personnel on best practices in mechanical system design.
• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, complemented by substantial hands-on industry experience.
• 8-10 years of pertinent experience.
• Willingness to work in a fully remote capacity with 50% travel (including global travel).

• Profound knowledge of metallurgy, structural loading, and the mechanical properties of materials.
• Experience in designing structural steel skids and heavy-duty baseplates for industrial pumping systems.
• Familiarity with structural dampening techniques, gussets, anchor points, and methods for reducing resonance.
• Comprehension of stringent flatness tolerances required for mechanical assemblies.
• Advanced expertise in heavy metal fabrication, including structural steel welding (AWS D1.1), machining, and stress-relieving heat treatments.
• Understanding of the interactions between pump casing, motor, gearbox, coupling, and pipe assembly alignment with frame assemblies.
• Knowledge of planning for lifting, transporting, and installing frame assemblies.
• Awareness of corrosion protection methods, such as hot-dip galvanizing, epoxy coatings, and zinc primers.
• High proficiency in Finite Element Analysis.
• Extensive knowledge of API 610, PIP RESP002, and AISC structural welding codes.
• Advanced understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Fully remote work arrangement.
• 50% travel, including global travel.
